Sharp drop in bread consumption following price hike
International food prices to remain high:

Bread consumption has dropped sharply following
the increase in wheat flour prices, market sources said. The drop in
demand is clearly seen in rural areas and traders and bakery owners
said that the sale of bread has declined by nearly 50%.

"Sri Lanka will be able to meet 50 percent of
its milk requirements in the next 3-5 years if the Government helps
small cattle owners and encourages the private sector to invest on
commercial dairy farms, said Consultant to the Ministry of Livestock

Exporter for the Year 2006 gold award at the 15th Annual NCE export
Awards ceremony held at the Hilton Colombo. The silver award was won

by Selyn Exporters (Pvt) Ltd while Serendib Exports won the silver
