Hi girls and guys....! It's very nice knowing that we are going to meet you all today. Today, November 11, 2007 will be a milestone in our lives, I believe. Because this exclusive get together is exclusively for youthful and dynamic Sunday Observer readers.

We, at the Sunday Observer, uphold pride in organising such a youth get together for the first time in Sri Lanka. As a national newspaper in Sri Lanka the Sunday Observer has always established precedence in making many things realistic.

This Observer Youth Club maiden get together will open the doors for others to give a thought to the nation's youth. I don't claim that the nation's youth has been neglected.

But of course, no newspaper has up to now held such a useful and youthful event like this..

This won't stop at that. I mean we at the Sunday Observer, are not going to forget the nation's youth after ten thirty tonight. We have much much more exciting plans at our command for the youth in future.

The Sunday Observer Youth Club is becoming very popular in society. We're getting a good response for the Youth Club. You won't believe this, even we still can't believe that the Youth Club could become such a popular event in Sri Lanka.

By looking at the quantum of post cards received for a day for Youth Club membership, we really can't believe the excitement. Last week Anushka wanted space in my cupboard to keep the postcards after having filled Sajitha's cupboard. Of course now we don't have space to keep the membership coupons. This is an innocent pride in us, when we see the massive response.

As I said earlier, the Sunday Observer has a responsibility towards society and, I said that we always put our best to the lead. Anushka wanted to do something new, something exclusive. So she had an idea of starting a club for youth. She didn't even tell us.

She straight away went to the editor and told him her idea about Youth Club. Our youthful and cheerful editor, Dinesh Weerawansa, is always ready to do something new for youth, Anushka said nodded his head sideways to approve that, with his pleasing smile. No sooner, smart Anushka was able to start a Youth Club under the guidance of the editor..

So three of us, Anushka, Sajitha and myself spearheaded organising the event. Anushka, the older of the three, having all round experience, always took the lead in organising this prestigious event. I would like to tell you how she worked hard to make the " 24 x 7 Observer Youth Club get together" a reality.

She never bothered to have her lunch on time. Whereas hungry Sajitha and my self had to take lunch late. Anushka worked till late. Of course this Youth Club Get Together is a team work which displays team spirit.

But I must say this, a great deal of effort is Anushka's. Sajitha was always with Anushka in organising this event. Sajitha was a great help for Anushka. She was always beside Anushka as a friend as well as a sister. And myself, with a little effort. I, being the youngest in the organising team, take that as an excuse to tell that I made a little effort..

This is, as I feel, a long felt need for the youth to gather under one roof. Our aim is not merely to get the youth together, but also to improve their humanistic qualities through organising charity to bring the youthful spirit out of them by training them to be future leaders.

That is very important because the youth has to take over the future of the country which is now going obsolete. It's Sunday Observer's responsibility to produce efficient future leaders, and give people an assurance that the future leaders will be full of spirit and sublime qualities.

By our Youth Club, we, will organise various events such as sports meets, Leadership training programmes, personality development programmes etc..etc, and I'm not going to tell you every thing, I leave you in suspense.... Await those events...Those events will be organised by you....! Under the Observer's guidance.....Be prepared for that. Because our sole aim is to produce a versatile and efficient youth population for the nation.

I believe, this youth club organised by the Sunday Observer will be an eye opener for others and in future many will try to copy our programme. However, I am sure about it, none can be like the Sunday Observer. No youth club will be like Sunday Observer Youth Club. Sunday Observer continues to be in lead... The Sunday Observer.... Unbeatable and Invincible.....!

Hey gals and guys are you all excited same as the organizers of the event of the year "24x7 For youth by youth"? Today is our day, the youths day to gather under one shelter to gain the ultimate experiences one could have in their life. No sooner the clock struck 4.00p.m. we all will be ready to accomplish the power of a nation.

I got the chance to speak to most of the members during last two weeks and was very happy to feel and was surprised that they all had the same beat in their hearts same as the "24x7 For youth by youth" organizers. Oh! at the same time I felt little sad too, knowing that some of the members will not be able to be part of this remarkable evening which especially designed for you.

Well, then again I remembered that this will not be the only event what we will have, but it's just the start of showing colours and powers of the youth to the world. This is what we call never die spirit, so the members who will not be able to come do not have to feel down, remember we have more and more event plannings stored for the future as well which will surely give incredible experiences.

Let me get back again with the schedule of our maiden event, so all the members will know what kind of stuff is stored for the evening. We will have distinguished invitees from different fields and of course are prestigious set of members.

The evening will be filled with musical personalities backed by the band "Black". Of course the event will be more lifted with the presentations and discussions of the guest speakers. The event "24x7 For youth by youth will be also spotted with various competitions such as 'Brain Tickler', 'Team Spirit', 'Trendy Quotes' and titles like 'Mr. Signature','Ms. Glamour', 'Mr. or Ms Friendship', 'Dialog KIT - Youth etc.

This is not all what we have in store for our participantss, but the rest will all be a surprise and from next week we will be able to share all the excitement we had with all the youth around the world so stay focus.....

"24x7 For youth by youth" would have been just a dream if "Sunday Observer Youth Club" would have not been backed mainly by the Our Chairman Bandula Padmakumara, Chief Editor Dinesh Weerawansa, Senior Associate Editor Lionel Yodhasinghe my collegues Saj the Golldilocks (Sajitha), Punch (Panchamee), Rajitha and Chinthaka.

There is more to come, the event would have not been possible if the classy and cool sponsors were not there.
