JVP won't topple Govt - Anura Kumara
By Anura Maitipe
"We do not want to help topple the government and pave the way for
the UNP to capture power. But if the government is heading towards its
own collapse we will take an appropriate political decision at the
opportune time, JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake told a
seminar at the Public Library Auditorium last week.
The JVP will never take opportunist decisions which would endanger
the lives of people in this country as drastic decisions taken by
certain political parties in the past have proved that they have not
brought any good to the people and the country, he said.
Some tend to say that the JVP is now on the fence. It was not the JVP
but the government and the UNP which are on the fence. We are playing a
mediatory role and waiting to see the crossover dramas which will take
place in the House within the next few days during the vote on the
budget.
The JVP will allow all these crossover dramas to be staged in the
House and the JVP will take a timely decision for the benefit of the
patriotic people of this country at the appropriate time, he said. |
