Brothers Isuru Hashan and Kaushalya Hasaranga win Gold Medals

KARATE: Two brothers-Isuru Hashan and Kaushalya Hasaranga Siyambalapitiya from Sarasavi Uyana Maha Vidyalaya, Kandy came out with flying colours by winning Gold Medals at the 'Asian Karate (Kumthe) tournament' held at the Peradeniya Campus, Indoor Stadium recently. It was conducted by Shihan Manoj Unantenna of the Japan Karate Do Thensin Khan Association.

Isuru Hashan won the under 9 title while Kaushalya Hasaranga won the under 11 title.

For each age group there were thirteen competitors including Indian counterparts.

The two brothers were coached by A. K. Basnayake, Black Belt Dan 3. Their parents Neil and Anusha Siyambalapitiya, both from Kandy Municipal Council said that they would like to see their two sons continue with the sport and bring glory to the school as well as to the country.
