Young swimmers for Bangkok meet

SWIMMING: The young swimmers from five lesser known clubs from Sri
Lanka have been invited to participate at the 29th Youth Swimming
Championships to be held from November 17 to 19 at the Tora Bora
Swimming Pool in Bangkok.
The swimmers have been invited by Kasedsart University in Bangkok and
altogether 66 swimmers, 47 boys and 19 girls from Taxila AC, Horana,
Varuna Aquatic Club, Tangalle, Kelani Nadi AC, Kelaniya, Sassara AC,
Galgamuwa, and Waterwins AC, Kurunegela will swim in the normal age
group events.
W. S. Bandula, Secretary of Horana AC who will be the Chief
Coordinator of the swimming squad, said that 66 swimmers were selected
on their performances at the Provincial and District Meets conducted
this year.
According to Bandula, this meet is conducted purely for up-and-coming
swimmers.
For our young swimmers it will be good exposure to gain more
experience swimming with competitors from other participating countries.
The local swimmers will leave on November 15. |
