Thurstan win by one wicket

CRICKET - Thurstan's last pair Buddhi Samarawickerma (43 n.o.) and
Ranishka Gamage (0) added an invaluable 19 runs for the last wicket to
help them to record an improbable one wicket win over S. Thomas' Mount
Lavinia in their school cricket match at the Thurstan College grounds
yesterday.
In a low scoring match Thurstan needed 136 runs to win with ample
time and overs at their disposal when they went to bat around 2.20 pm.
Thurstan were made to fight hard for every run by the Thomians, and the
Thurstanites were 91 for 7 and 117 for 9 at one stage.
Buddhi Samarawickrama Thurstan's last year skipper batting at number
6 anchored himself to produce a match winning innings while taking most
of the strike. Samarawickrema's determined innings stood between a
Thomian win till the penultimate over. Samarwickrema had faced 73
deliveries and struck four boundaries.
