Christmas with great hopes in North
Curfew will be lifted on December 24 and 25 in the North for people
to celebrate Christmas to take part in religious activities, Brigadier
Udaya Nanayakkara told the Sunday Observer. Generally the curfew is
enforced in the North only mid night.
In addition to the usual programme of Christmas activities in North,
Secretary to the 'Bishop, Rev.Fr. Roshan Pillai Sebastian told the
Sunday Observer, that though they will celebrate X'mas in a quiet
manner, with the theme of " Peace on earth".
The mid night mass will take place at St.Mary's Cathedral in Jaffna
on December 24, ushered by Bishop Thomas Savundaranayagam, the Cathedral
Parish Priest Rev.Fr. Michael and Fr. Sebastian.
"Today the Bishop will visit prisoners those who were displaced due
to floods in Jaffna to carry the message of hope"' added the Secretary.
On behalf of the Bishop of Jaffna, Rev. Fr. Sebastian thanked the
defence authorities for lifting the curfew for people to have a
meaningful and joyful Christmas.
