Army captures Uyilankulam

Task Force -1, the army's elite division in the Mannar region has
captured the LTTE's Uyilankulam entry and exit point killing more than
fifteen LTTE cadres and destroying over eight bunkers of the outfit at
10am yesterday according to Military Spokesperson Brigadier Udaya
Nanayakara.
Brigadier Nanayakara told the Sunday Observer the troops of the Task
Force -1 from Mannar region launched the attack in the early hours
yesterday in the Parapakandal area despite the heavy counter mortar
attacks from the LTTE.However the Uyilankulam entry and exit point of
the LTTE had fallen to the troops around 10am yesterday.
"The troops intercepting the LTTE communication sets found that more
than fifteen cadres have been killed and twenty of them have been
injured.The Uyilankulam entry and exit point situated on the Uyilankulam
-Andankulam road and the troops were able to see the bodies of the dead
cadres lying in the spots where the LTTE bunker lines have been smashed
by the troops," Brig Nanyakkara said.
Commending the success of the elite Task Force -1 in Mannar Brigadier
Nanayakkara added that the Task Force was launched on September 23rd
this year and since its inception the special division has carried out
several successful attacks against the LTTE and it could be very well
said that the troops of the division have killed hundreds of LTTE cadres
in the past three months.
