Yasaran Tennakoon good in studies and sports

ALLROUND SPORTSMAN: Yasa-ran Bandara Pitawela Tennakoon, a
year V student of Trinity College, Kandy can well be called an allround
student. He has excelled both in studies and sports and has been duly
rewarded by the school authorities.
At the recent prize giving of the Trinity College Primary Section,
Yasaran was awarded the J. L. P. Perera Silver Medal for being the 'Best
Student' for the year 2007 in the Primary Section of Trinity College.
Besides his academic activities, Yasaran has excelled in athletics
winning Kandy District and Central Province Champions trophies in the
under 8, 10 and 11 age categories.
This year has been a highly successful year for this promising
teenage athlete as he emerged champion in six different sports
competitions. Among his many victories are in the Kandy District Schools
Sports Meet, Provincial Schools Meet and the Quadrangular Meet (Trinity,
Royal, S. Thomas' and Maris Stella) held earlier this year.
He is also a cricketer and a swimmer, chess and badminton player. His
talent has not been limited to sports only. He is an orator in Sinhala
and English. He has also won all-island competitions in Music, English
Speech and Drama and written contests.
Yasaran is a pupil of Mrs Vajira Basnayake Soysa of the School of the
Speech, Drama and Music.
He is the son of Dhammika Pitawela, a businessman of Kandy and Mrs.
Thushara Tennakoon - a teacher attached to the staff of Mahamaya Girls
College, Kandy. |
