Our very own children and elderly people as well as the working crowd
daily meet with the hassle of going this road which is full of ruts and
broken in many places.
This road gets muddy during the rains and is totally impassable for
people or those going in three wheelers - as if a patient or a pregnant
woman travels in a three wheeler they would sure and up with broken
limbs in a hospital. Just how do we address this problem!
The Chairman, Pradeshiya Sabha, The Chairman, Palath Sabha or the MP
Mahara who are totally dead and dumb right now. They have earlier
mentioned that they do not have funds to pave the road but have done
only quarter of it. People - school children and the elderly suffer on a
daily basis going on this road and our voices are not heard. Do we
scream, run, fight, demonstrate or what?
If millions of funds received for development projects are misused
and not utilised for projects until a Minister watches a particular TV
station highlighting the sufferings of the public, what is the use of
funds being doled out to these Ministers to do development work in these
areas.
Some of them appear on TV thanking the TV station for highlighting
the needs of the people, but are they not supposed to go into these
areas and be of service to the public, but instead sit back and enjoy
all the benefits of being a Minister.
What sort of discipline and control has the Government on these
misdeeds. If only one of the TV crew would come down Gongitota Road and
highlight this pathetic sight which has caused much inconvenience to the
people for almost a year, the MP concerned will fall in line. Over to
you MP to take immediate action! NOW.
Tomorrow may be too late!

I think it is high time to introduce a premature pension scheme for
govt. servants who wish to retire from service early.
It is obvious the Govt. undergo a tremendous economic struggle in
spite of the ethnic conflict which has been lasting for three decades,
destroying the precious lives of the innocent people and the state and
private property.
Recently, the Minister of Public administration and Home Affairs had
said in a public meeting, that the country's present strenuous economic
burden, is paying salaries for 10 million Govt. servants and paying
pension for retired Govt. officers.
But it is inevitable since a state service is necessary to run the
Government. So the Govt. can now think of reducing the govt. officers by
introducing a premature pension scheme offering an incentive for those
who wish to retire early. Even in future, it is quite apparent the Govt.
would definitely face strikes and protests to increase salaries of the
Govt. servants. So it is high time for the Hon. Minister to introduce a
premature pension scheme with some incentives to retire the govt.
servants early if they like to be retired.
