No power cuts in 2008

The increasing number of violations committed against the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) have paved the way to abrogate the agreement and it was not a sudden decision of the government but a fulfilment of a long felt need, Minister of Power and Energy W. D. J. Seneviratne said.

The majority of political parties welcomed the government's decision to abrogate the six-year old Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) with the LTTE and said that the LTTE used the CFA to strengthen their fire and manpower while weakening the other Tamil political parties who opposed them.
