by Anushka Nanayakkara
The tourism industry needs the support of the media to attract more
tourists, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Faiszer Musthapha told media
briefing held at the Galle Face Hotel last Friday.
The Deputy Minister said, diverse views might convey a wrong message
and what is needed is to convey the right message with proper
information to attract tourists to Sri Lanka as a holiday destination.
The present tourist arrival rate of 58 percent, shows that even after
the abrogation of the Ceasefire Agreement tourists are keen to visit Sri
Lanka.
The tourists who visited the country had conveyed the actual
situation in the country and that it has no threat to tourists, he said.
The Ministry of Tourism will invite journalists from different regions
in the world to convey the right message about tourism in Sri Lanka to
other countries, he said. |
