60th Independence Day celebrations tomorrow

Sri Lanka's 60th Independence Day celebrations will be held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Galle Face Green tomorrow at 8.35am. It will be telecast live on national television Rupavahini and other channels. A special traffic scheme will be in operation in and around the Galle Face Green until tomorrow.

The military parades will feature the Armed Forces in a stunning airshow. The Navy, Police and school children will also participate. The Maha Sangha, Leaders of other religious denominations, Cabinet Ministers, Non Cabinet Ministers, Heads of the Armed Forces and foreign diplomats will also be present. Here children of various ethnic groups throng under the Lion flag.
