BADMINTON: The President of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA), Amanda L. Weerasinghe, in reference to Sunday Observer article on December 16, 2007 titled "Chandrika's string of victories proves SLBA officials wrong" states that the Malaysian coach she had referred to is in Sri Lanka for one year and denies making a statement that she should be sent abroad for more international tournaments.

Weerasinghe further states that "she was kicked out of the national pool "saying she was too old" during a previous administration and not during his tenure and was invited back with "open arms".

Continues Weerasinghe: I have personally helped Chandrika for her overseas travel for more than a decade and due to my personal relationship with the President of the Indian Badminton Association sent her to the Indian Satellite tournament at no cost to her.
