CRICKET: Leg spinner Ranesh Perera captured seven wickets for 52 including a hattrick as Ragama CC took control on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one tournament match against Kandy YCC played at Kandana yesterday.

Kandy YCC: 227 (M. Safraz 89, J. Chandratilleke 77, R. Perera 7 for 52).

Ragama CC: 179 for 6 (I. Senaratne 51, S. Soysa 56 n.o, G. Dilruk 42 n.o, R. Jayatissa 2 for 30)

NCC were well set to take a good first innings lead over Tamil Union after dominating the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one tournament match worked off at Maitland Place yesterday.
