The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) will hold the
16th export awards ceremony to recognise and reward excellence in
exports and contribution to the economy.
It will be held on September 26 at the Hilton Colombo.
The NCE which serves Sri Lankan exporters has been conducting the
event since 1993. A noteworthy feature of the awards is the inclusion of
non-member exporters to be eligible for awards.
President, NCE Rohan Fernando said the number of applicants vying for
awards has shown a marked increase. This year the Chamber received
around 140 applications.
The export of products which has been the main area recognised from
the beginning of the awards has undergone several changes to recognise
the contribution made to exports by emerging new product sub sectors
such as manufactured jewellery and processed food products.
Award winners will be selected from export of products, business and
professional services and suppliers and service providers to exporters.
Enterprises will be divided into small, medium, large and extra large
categories to ensure a level playing field for enterprises.
The awards recognise the achievements of small enterprises which are
unable to compete with large enterprises.
The most coveted award is the Gold Award for the ‘Most Outstanding
Exporter’ of the year.
The runner-up receives the Most Outstanding Exporter Silver Award.
