10 escape from police cell

Ten suspects who were detained at the Meegahatenna police station in the Mathugama district escaped from the police cell on Friday night. Police sources said the suspects, reportedly Army deserters, had escaped by breaking the handcuffs. Police said the suspects are residents of Gampaha, Weliweriya and Galle. Investigations are under way to apprehend the suspects.
