Creative people are made not born - Dr. Kuhathasan
"Creativity is the main focus of several IT related organisations
today.
The most important source of wealth of several organisations today is
'ideas'.
The ability to innovate is emerging as the key business skill in most
IT firms.
The only way for companies to thrive is to generate creative ideas
and the only way to generate such ideas is to develop the creative
capacity of its people.
In essence, in the era of information revolution, creativity is the
life blood of organisations" said Dr. K Kuhathasan, CEO, Centre for
Leadership Excellence and Personality Development (CENLEAD).
Dr. Kuhathasan told a seminar on "Forging Creative and innovative
culture in organisations" organised by Acc Soft Solutions (Pvt) Ltd; in
Colombo recently, that creativity has become the tool for excellence in
the IT field.
Dr. Kuhathasan said the new wave of technology demands creative
people. Innovation flourishes when new ideas and approaches are nurtured
and encouraged rather than discouraged, he said.
"Managers of today should take the initiative to stimulate creativity
among the people, free them from constraints and preconceptions and
guide them where imagination is transferred into competitive advantage",
he said.
He, therefore, suggested to the participants that they should develop
an innovative business environment and creative organisational culture
to facilitate innovative fertility.
While disagreeing with the participants that "Creativity is the gift
of a lucky few", he stressed that "Creativity is not something inborn or
inherited", "Creative people are not born but made."
