'Wanted' not wanted in UK!
Angelina Jolie might ooze Hollywood glamour, but if she’s armed and
looking dangerous, the actress is not welcome in Britain. Britain’s
media watchdog, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has banned
two posters of Jolie promoting the film “Wanted” after upholding
complaints that the images of the gun-toting actress glamorized the use
of guns and violence. One poster showed the actress crouching and
holding a gun pointing upward while the other showed her lying on her
back across a car’s hood, brandishing guns.
The ASA said it had received 17 complaints from people who thought
the ads were irresponsible because they glorify and glamorize gun crime
at a time when there is increasing public concern in Britain about it.
Some also complained that the posters for the high-tech action thriller
co-starring James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman were unsuitable to be seen
by children. “We considered, that because the ads featured a glamorous
actress, action poses, several images of or related to guns and
aspirational text, they could be seen to glamorize the use of guns and
violence,” the ASA said in an online ruling.

Hellboy spells character
Ron Perlman, who plays the lead role in fantasy sequel ‘Hellboy 2:
The Golden Army’, says director Guillermo del Toro has a clear idea for
a follow-up film to conclude the story. The movie - which also stars
Selma Blair as the spontaneously combusting love interest Liz Sherman -
was No.1 at the US box office for a week until ‘The Dark Knight’came
along. In the UK, where it was released much later, on August 22nd, it
took the top spot in its first week. The film has so far made $101
million globally and is faring better than the first movie back in 2004.
Perlman, whose Hellboy character is a crimson, cigar-chomping demon
based on a comic-book character published by Dark Horse, said: “This
ride we’re on, opening No.1 at the box office, that’s just icing on what
was already the most delicious cake I’d ever bitten into.”
He said “Nothing’s been announced [about a sequel] but I wouldn’t be
surprised if there’s a third, particularly on the heels of ‘Hellboy 2’s
success. And I know Guillermo has an incredibly well-articulated idea
about what the third movie needs to be. It almost needs to happen
because with the ideas that he has about closing the trilogy, it would
be a shame for it to go unfinished.”
‘Hellboy 2’ is definitely worth seeing for the visual spectacle.
Former Bros pop star Luke Goss is excellent in his powerful and intense
portrayal of the elf prince Nuada who declares war on humankind.

‘Dark Knight’ rumours spilled!
Amidst wild rumors for Dark Knight 3’s casting process (think Cher as
Catwoman), actor Aaron “Two Face” Eckhart gave us some bat-closure on a
few of the many bat-rumors. So are we going to see the former Gotham
City DA’s pretty deformed mug again?
Q: Is Harvey Dent alive?
Aaron Eckhart: No. He is dead as a door nail.
Q: So he’s not coming back?
Eckhart: He ain’t coming back baby!
Q: I was hoping he would.
Eckhart: No. I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, “You’re
dead” before I could even get the question out of my mouth. “Hey Chris,
am I?” “You’re dead!” Alright, cool.
Q: That’s not a problem in comic book movies. You could still
comeback.
Eckhart: I think in contract negotiations it’s a problem.
Q: So you were never signed on for another film?
Eckhart: No, I’m not coming back. I think unfortunately, Heath
[Ledger] was supposed to go on and that didn’t work out. I’m nobody. I’m
a cog. I have no say over this sort of stuff. I’m sure that there’s so
many other characters that they could whip together. I heard Angelina
Jolie was going to be Catwoman or something like that. I thought that
was a great idea. I’d like to be in that one.
Dark Knight a success
The ‘Dark Knight’ has broken through the magic US$500 million mark,
becoming only the second film in history to do so. The ‘Batman’ sequel
is only the second film in history - after James Cameron’s ‘Titanic’ -
to top the half billion dollar mark. Ben Stiller’s movie within a movie,
‘Tropic Thunder’ continued its success, with industry figures showing it
was the most watched movie across North America over the long US Labour
Day weekend. The comedy about a group of actors shooting a war film in
the middle of a real life conflict zone, scooped $US14.6 million from
Friday to Monday in the United States and Canada, taking $US86.6 million
since its opening. Reigning summer blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight’, which
earned a third place take of $US11.1 million pushing its total domestic
haul to $US504.8 million.
