Cochlear implant

One-year-old baby Zaid Nazreen is having hearing impediment in both his ears from his birth. On a referral made by Consultant ENT of the Durdans Hospital Surgeon, Dr. A. D. K. S. N. Yasawardana, Consultant at the Apollo Hospitals, Colombo, Dr. Devanand Jha has advised Cochlear implant surgery which is estimated to cost between Rs. 1,800,000 to Rs. 2,800,000 depending upon the model of implant to be used.

Baby Zaid's parents cannot afford this amount and hence his father, who is an employee of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), appeals to the generous public for help. Contributions may be sent to A/c. No. 5490564 of Bank of Ceylon, Independence Square branch, Colombo -7.
