High scoring draw at Dambulla

The four day match between the touring Bangladesh Academy team and the Sri Lanka Academy side ended in a high scoring draw at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium yesterday.

The home side went on to make 397 runs in their first innings in reply to the visitors massive first innings total of 441.

However Bangladesh Academy were dismissed for 190 in their second innings with paceman Akalanka Ganegama claiming four wickets following his useful contribution of 40 runs earlier with the bat.

The second four day match between the two team will commence on Tuesday at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Khettarama followed by three one day matches.

Bangladesh Academy: 441 and 190 (N. Islam 82, M. Sharwadhi 29, R. Islam 26, A. Ganegama 4 for 44).

Sri Lanka Academy: 397 (N. Nawala 61, A. Ganegama 40, M. Allaam 2 for 82, S. Rahman 2 for 39, M. Ayub 2 for 16). (C.D.)
