Thomians fight-back to force a draw

CRICKET: S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia came from behind with a magnificent performance to take major honours in their inter-school cricket tournament match against D. S. Senanayake College which ended in a draw at Mount Lavinia yesterday.

The Thomians produced an improved batting performance in their second innings and went on to declare at 164 for 8 following two good contributions from M. Saleem (49) and Chamod Pathirana (42). D. S. Senanayake chasing a victory target of 154 runs lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually settled for a draw after they had collapsed to 80 for 7.

S. Thomas': 128 and 164 for 8 decl. (M. Saleem 49, R. Nilushan 32, C. Pathirana 42, N. Pathirana 4 for 18, M. Munasinghe 2 for 22).
