Palitha releases his maiden book

Well-known sports commentator and media personality Palitha Perera released his maiden book at the International Book Fair and Exhibition at the BMICH yesterday.

Titled 'Palitha Perera samaga sajeeva lesin' (Live with Palitha Perera), it is an interesting reading material for people of all walks of life.

Amongst the interesting chapters, the veteran radio personality describes who he was taken to CID for questioning after an article series on cricket, Sri Lanka's rebel cricket tour of South Africa, Kalpana interviews on Amaradewa and Nanda Malani, how he interviewed Martin Wickremesinghe, a memorable interview with actress Rukmani Devi (just 18 hours before her death), the origin of Sinhala cricket radio commentary, the first political debate in Sri Lanka television history, the origin of Sri Lanka's first ever FM channel (City FM) and television interviews he had with President Mahinda Rajapaksa (when he was the Prime Minister) and former President Chandrika Kumaratunga.

Perera is one of the senior most media personalities in Sri Lanka, having begun his exemplary career way back in 1963 from the SLBC. He has rendered a yeoman service to Lankan media, especially in the electronic media as a veteran commentator, for nearly half a century.
