NFF warns of LTTE massacre in K'nochchi

The National Freedom Front (NFF) has warned the Government that the LTTE may carry out a massacre in Kilinochchi to tarnish the image of the government and the security forces.

Citing the incident in Kosovo, where over 200 innocent people had keen killed by the Kosovo Liberation Army to put the blame on the Serbian government, NFF Chairman Wimal Weerawansa said that the LTTE which killed hundreds of people would never hesitate to kill their own people to get mileage in their final stage of defeat.

" This is not a big deal for the LTTE leader who ordered the killing of hundreds of innocent civilians and also Tamils.

A large number of Tamils has been killed not due to the military offensive but by their own so-called sole representatives", he said.

He said that the Government should make the international community aware about this tactic of the LTTE before such an unfortunate incident takes place.

Weerawansa said that it was time to safeguard the Tamils from the LTTE. "If any international organisation is worried about the sufferings of civilians they should pressurise the LTTE and not the Government, he said.
