Junior Inventor 2008

The finals of the Junior Inventor of the Year 2008 was held at the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) on October 4 under the patronage of Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha. President IESL, Ranjith Gunawardena, President-elect, D.P. Mallawaratchi and Chief Organiser of the competition, J. Meegoda were present at the event.

Fifty contestants took part in the competition, which was organised by the IESL for the 23rd time this year. It was launched to promote science and mathematics education and usage of technology among schoolchildren.

The winner will get the opportunity of competing at the International Science and Engineering Fair held in the USA every year. The winner's trip to the USA will be facilitated by Intel Ltd., National Science Foundation and Ministry of Education. The first three winners also received gold, silver and bronze medals as well as cash gifts.
