US, Lanka discuss financial crisis
The United States and Sri Lanka discussed the present financial
crisis in many parts of the world and the steps taken to avert further
damage to the world economy.
Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Dr.
Sarath Amunugama had talks with Deputy Assistant Secretary to the US
Treasury in Washington DC Robert Dohner on Friday.
He was accompanied by Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya.
Among the matters discussed at the meeting were the state of the Sri
Lanka's economic gains and US assistance received for development
projects.
The Deputy Assistant Secretary explained the steps taken by the US
Government to meet the current economic crisis.
The meeting highlighted Sri Lanka's effort towards development at a
high level and to assess any potential spill-over from the threatening
economic downturn affecting financial markets in the US and other parts
of the world.
