Asian Dragons to play two games
RUGBY: Asian Dragons rugby team, formerly known as 'Asian Barbarians'
comprising a cross-section of expatriate players from countries such as
Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, China and Singapore will embark on a
two-game series in Sri Lanka commencing from October 15 (Wednesday), a
Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) source told Sunday Observer. "The
Asian Dragons have confirmed their tour of Sri Lanka. We are confident
the two games they will play in Sri Lanka will be followed closely by
the spectators as exciting rugby fare is expected to be on the cards
while for the players, too, it will provide valuable experience." The
Asian Dragons will first confront a Sri Lanka Development Squad,
comprising players knocking on the door for national honours on October
15 at Longden Place (CR & FC grounds) before finishing off their short
sojourn in the island-nation with a one-off 'unofficial Test' against
the Sri Lanka President's XV on October 18 also at Longden place.
The two Sri Lanka squads for the 'ties' against the Asian Dragons are
to be announced along with details of the Asian Dragons next week.
