Indian HC inaugurates 29th National Conference of ICASL

More than 600 personalities from the accountancy and allied spheres
gathered at the Cinnamon Grand to take part in the inauguration of the
29th National Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of
Sri Lanka (ICASL) under the patronage of Indian High Commissioner Alok
Prasad. Former Precedent Partner of KPMG Ford Rhodes Thornton & Co,
Rajan Asirwatham was the Keynote Speaker.
The theme of this year's conference was "RE imagine - creating a
successful business in challenging times by thinking differently". The
conference provided a platform for professionals to gather, deliberate
and confer issues that go beyond reading and writing. For over a quarter
century, the national conference has added much value with themes
ranging from economy, people skills, accountability, governance and
ethics being deliberated by eminent panels with an equally competent
professional audience in an intellectually stimulating environment
providing the much needed debate.
The conference also provided a conducive base for networking, an
invaluable tool in modern management. The Conference's Technical
Sessions were conducted over two days (October 10 and 11) by a group of
eminent and respected corporate personalities through six main
presentations titled 'Creating Opportunities', 'Developing a Blue Ocean
Strategy', 'The Differentiating Factor', 'Navigating the Vortex',
'Forward Focus' and 'Numbers to Strategy. Among the speakers are Dr.
Uditha Liyanage, Director, Postgraduate Institute of Management,
Colombo, Rustom Jilla - Senior Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer, Ansell Limited, USA, Phillip Satish Rao, Partner, Business Risk
Services, Ernst and Young, Malaysia and Brendan Murtagh, Deputy
President, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United
Kingdom. Eminent CEOs and CFOs discussed current and future trends of
the CFO's role, based on the expectations from the organisation, the
management as well as other stakeholders. |
