Distribution of school textbooks
 The distribution of school textbooks is to be completed before the
end of the third school term. Initiatives in this regard have already
been taken by the Ministry of Education.
Under the first phase of the school textbooks distribution process,
which was launched by the Ministry recently, 150,000 textbooks were sent
to Jaffna. The project would see the Education Ministry distributing 354
book titles among 4,100,000 schoolchildren in 9,168 government schools.
The Ministry has already completed almost 50 per cent of this
printing order while the rest is currently being printed. A sum above Rs.
2,700 million has been spent by the government for the printing and
distribution process. |
