Uninterrupted services for IDPs

The Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Ministry on Friday directed all Government Agents in the Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts to provide shelter, electricity, water and sanitation to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) without interruption. Minister Rishard Bathiyudheen told the Sunday Observer that Rs. 70 million has been allocated by the Government to make this program a success.

“In addition to this we are continuously providing all essential food items such as wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil and dhal to all areas. When asked about the obstacles faced by the authorities to transport food items to these areas, the Minister said that the damaged Nedunkerni bridge has been temporarily repaired. He said during the past ten days nearly 100 lorry-loads of essential food items were despatched to Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi.
