Dilshan Kariyawasam - wins three titles

BADMINTON: Sixteen-year-old Dilshan Kariyawasam, a Grade 11 student of Ananda College, Colombo has displayed an outstanding performance by winning the three titles in badminton for Ananda College after a lapse of several years, in the All Island Badminton Championships concluded at the Royal College Sports Complex recently.

He clinched the three titles, under-17 boys' singles, under-17 boys' doubles with T. N. Gunasiri of Royal College, Colombo and under-19 mix-doubles with Gayani Perera of Anula Vidyalaya to take the badminton triple crown.

Dilshan, a promising player, has taken part in international badminton tournaments held in Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, China, South Korea and Indonesia.

He has been selected to participate in the World Junior Badminton Championships to be held in Pune, India at the end of this month.

Ananda College won the Overall Championship for the second consecutive year.

Their coach Pushpakumara spared no pains in giving his shuttlers the best training to win these championships.
