Niwanka Abeyrathna fine 98 and 4/22 for Sri Sumangala

CRICKET: A fine knock of 98 by Niwanka Abeyrathna helped Sri Sumangala College to beat St. Servatius' College Matara by 89 runs on the first innings in their Lakbima Trophy under 19 tournament cricket match played recently at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.

Sri Sumangala made 198 in their first innings with the help of Niwanka Abeyrathna who made 98.

Abeyrathna also bowled well to take 4 for 22 and St. Servatius were all out for 109.

Sri Sumangala made 132 in their 2nd innings with Kasun Madushanka of Sri Sumangala taking 4 for 40.

St. Servatius made 109 in their first innings with Sri Sumangala bowler Niwanka Abeyrathna getting 4 for 22 chasing a victory target of 222 runs, St. Servatius were 123 for 5 wickets at done of play.

Sri Sumangala College: 198 in 69.1 overs (Niwanka Abeyrathna 98, Buddi Perera 18, Chathura Malaweera 15, Kasun Madushanka 3 for 45, Lahiru Korale 2 for 38, G. H. St. Servatius, Matara: 109 in 38.3 overs (Sanidu Ediriweera 31, Lathura Gayan 21, Kasun Madushanka 17, Niwanka Abeyrathna 4 for 22, Buddi Perera 2 for 23, Chathura Silva 2 for 17) and 123 for 5 wkts in 30 overs (G. H. Kathara 29, Chathura Gayan 13, Udaya Fonseka 2 for 19).
