Peterites have it easy

CRICKET: St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya were home for tea when
they trounced Trinity College, Kandy by eight wickets in their inter
school cricket match concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy
yesterday. Trinity College in their lung opener put up a pitiful display
and they started off by losing their first two wickets for no runs.
Having conceded a first innings lead of 115 runs, the Trinitians gave
another woeful batting display in the second innings. They were 170 for
5 at one stage but they lost their last five wickets for just 8 runs
with the score slumping from 170 for 5 to 172 for 9. Only opener
Shameera Wijesuriya batted with confidence scoring 51 with 4 from facing
137 balls.
Later Mohamed Sajjid 43 (5 fours) and Roshan Jaleel 28 put up 52 for
the sixth wicket to delay the Peterite victory. Set a victory target of
64, the Peterites reached winning post in just 8.2 overs. Opener Andre
Berenger tore into the lions attack in scoring 50 not out off only 27
balls with three sixers and 5 fours.
Trinity College: 128 and 11 for no loss overnight 178 all out in 57
overs (Shameera Wijsuriya 51, Suresh Wickrema 19, Mohamed Sajid 43,
Roshan Jaleel 28, Angelo Perera 4 for 49, Vinodh Perera 3 for 46).
St. Peter's: 243 all out and 67 for 2 in 8.2 overs. (Andre Berenger
50 not out, Angelo Perera 10, Anuradha Jayasundera 2 for 9).
