GCE O/L exams under both syllabi

The GCE Ordinary Level Examination will be held on the new and the
old syllabus from December 8-20.
Around 255,000 candidates will sit for the examination under the old
syllabus at 2,070 centres and nearly 100,000 candidates will sit for the
examination under the new syllabus at 2,700 centres islandwide.
Special examination centres will be set up at Ratmalana and Tangalle
for visually impaired students.
Examination centres will be set up in the Kalutara and Welikada
prisons said Examinations Commissioner General, Anura Edirisinghe.
The General Technology Information Examination will be held for the
first year students sitting for the G.C.E. O/L Examination on December
14. Around 125,000 students have applied for the examination but it is
nearly 70,000 students who will sit for the examination.
The Examination Department spends Rs. three million for the G.T.I.
Examination. The five centres set up to conduct G.C.E. O/L Examination
in the Mannar district will be relocated in the Kilinochchi district for
the convenience of students.The five examination centres under the
Periyakomarasankulam GTMS, Vavuniya coordination centre (Centre Number
458) will be relocated in Kilinochchi, said Edirisinghe.
Paper marking will commence on December 28. The first stage of
marking will be completed on January 6 and the second stage will be
completed on January 28.
Edirisinghe said that he has assigned 15,000 teachers to mark papers.
Teachers who are willing to mark papers should apply within a week.
The Examination Department will release the G.C.E. A/L Examination
results by the end of December.
