Heart valve repair

Baby Sandeepa requires surgery for total correction with valve conduit repair in the heart. She is advised to undergo the procedure at an early date, in view of severe cyanosis, Chief Paediatric Cardiologist of MIOT Hospital, Chennai Dr. K. Siva Kumar said. Her mother also died in an accident last month.

The operation is to be performed at a cost of Rs. 900,000.

Her father Aruna Shantha who cannot afford the high cost of the surgery appeals to the public to help save his daughter's life. Contributions may be remitted to A/c No. 0060-02424-3000-101 Seylan Bank, Kiribathgoda.


Kidney transplant

Susantha Ekanayake of 12/15, School Lane, Maharagama is suffering from chronic renal failure and doctors of Colombo National Hospital have recommended a kidney transplant to save his life.

He is a father of three small kids and presently unemployed and humbly request for O+ or O- kidney from a generous donor, and cash donations from people. Remittances could be made to A/c No. 1-0053-01-4310-3 of Hatton National Bank, Maharagama branch. (Tel: 2837380)


Bone marrow transplant

Niroshini Kurukulasuriya of Kohuwala (24), an old girl of Sirimavo Bandaranaike College, Colombo 7, presently a part time CIMA student who has been diagnosed with Acute lymphoblast leukaemia in June is seeking public financial assistance to meet the cost of urgent costly medical treatment for her survival.

Doctors have concluded that her condition will turn to worse unless an allogenic or autologus bone marrow transplant is done during her first remission. She is presently undergoing a course of intensified chemotheraphy at Asiri Surgical hospital after which doctors have strongly recommended a bone marrow transplant this month.

As the facility of bone marrow transplantation is not available in Sri Lanka, her Oncologist Dr. Sarath Abeykoon and Haematologist, Dr. Lalindra Gooneratne have contacted Christian Medical College, Vellore, India in this regard and have been advised that the treatment would cost approximately Sri Lanka Rs. 10 million. Niroshini's brother Dhanushka, the sole bread winner of the family who is financially not sound enough to raise this amount of money for his sister's treatment has sought the assistance of the Lions Club of Colombo Wekanda to appeal for financial assistance from friends and well-wishers to save the life of his sister.

Heart patient needs help

Fifty seven year old, S. A. P. Rodrigo is suffering from coronary artery disease and the Cardiologist of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL), Dr. Gamini Galapatthy has recommended therapeutic procedure Stenting to LAD.

The consumables a pair of stents are non available at the NHSL which had to be purchased in the open market cost around Rs. 400,000.
