Wanniarachchi prevails over Jayakody

Boxing - While there were no major upsets experienced in the women's categories finals the only notable incident which occurred in the men's finals categories at the time this edition went to press was the win gained by M.D.K. Wanniarachchi of Slimline 'A' who prevailed over K.N. Jayakody of Army 'A' who was deemed unfit by the referee at the 82nd National Boxing Championship conducted by the Amateur Boxing Association and concluded at the Sugathadasa Indoor Boxing Ring last night.

Men's finals

Light Fly Weight Under-48 kgs: T.M.C. Tennakoon (Army 'A') bt W.S.K. Fernando (Vidyartha SC 'A').

Fly Weight Under-51 kgs: D.R. Wijerathne (Ghandara 'A') bt R.M.P. Dhakshilath (Unichela 'A').

Bantam Weight Under-54 kgs: M.D.K. Wanniarachchi (Slimline 'A') bt K.N. Jayakody (Army 'A') who was adjudged by the referee to be unfit to continue.

A.P.S. Dunukeiyanga (Slimline 'C') bt N.S.P. Silva (Slimline 'A').
