Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka with senior military officials paid a visit to review the humanitarian operations of the army in the Wanni region yesterday (4). At the talks held with senior officials he advised to expect an increased influx of civilians fleeing from the LTTE during the next few days. He discussed the special welfare program for civilians. The Sri Lankan military is to expedite the world’s largest hostage rescue operation where the LTTE terrorists keep over 70,000 civilians in a small patch of land less than 20 square kilo metres, the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka said.

Military action in Puthukudiyiruppu bring positive results:


As the Security Forces are engaged in the final lap of the operation outside the No-Fire-Zone, North East of Puthukudiyiruppu where LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and other top rung leaders had fled to, the Tiger outfit is seemingly engaged in a process to shift their operations to the next phase of the Eelam War.
