Ridgecrest, a leading software company introduces two new web
solutions to the entertainment and automobile industries in Sri Lanka.
“One stop ticket shop” an online ticket booking solution targets the
entertainment industry in Sri Lanka. The new solution will be launched
next week with the Ceylon Theatres enabling people to book their cinema
tickets through internet via www.ticketslk.com.
The chief technology officer of Ridgecrest Sanath Fernando said that
this new technology will address some issues the film industry has faced
today. It removes the inconvenience the people face in booking tickets
and provide information they need.
A viewer can find the films that are screened or coming in the
future, details of the film such as the director, main actor and
actress, the awards won, commentaries on the films and then decide which
film to watch. Then he can select the theatre and see the seating
arrangement of the theatre, the seats that have already been booked.
Then he can select the seats he wants and pay the fee online by using
credit cards. This solution will cover all the cinema and drama
theatres, sports stadiums even in the rural areas in the future. The
mobile application of the solution will also be available and people can
book tickets through their mobile phones as well, Fernando said.
www.autoslk.com web solution provides all the information relevant to
your vehicle and update and keep the records.
The information that will be provided by the solution are the repairs
done, parts replaced, date of repair or service, insurance and licence
details. The system will inform you the date your insurance policy or
licence end and details of spare parts vendors. Fernando said that both
of these solutions will evolve adding more features. Fernando said that
the objective of the introduction of these new technology goes beyond
mere profit.
This will generate revenue for us but our broader objective is to
include Sri Lanka on the web and showcase how Sri Lanka is
technologically advanced.
The country is making a big effort to develop the IT sector and the
government invests huge money on it. This year has been declared as the
year of IT and English. Investments go to rural areas as well and there
are 600 Nenasala rural IT centres and the governments ambition is to
increase it to 1000. However, there are issues that cannot be solved
only by these investments. These investments are under utilised and from
54 Nenasala centres we observed, only 10 used internet.
Fernando said that the content in the internet is an issue and though
there is internet connection the users should be able to make their life
easy with the technology. Our objective is to improve the content on the
web that make the lives of our people easier and increase IT usage, he
said.
