Lord Hastings to visit Sri Lanka
KPMG Ford, Rhodes, Thornton & Co. recently announced the visit to Sri
Lanka by Lord Hastings of Scarisbrick (CBE), the Global Head of
Corporate Citizenship and Diversity of KPMG International.
In a press release the firm announced that Lord Hastings will visit
Sri Lanka in May to observe some of the local member firm's corporate
citizenship initiatives and also assess the impact made by several
global citizenship projects which have been directed towards
beneficiaries in Sri Lanka.
Senior Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka Nirmal Fernando said, "Such a visit
by a Global Head is recognition and encouragement for the work done by
the firm and staff members and it also reaffirms our commitment to our
communities".
Lord Hastings will visit the KPMG housing village at Seenigama, one
of the five housing villages set up in a collaborative effort by KPMG
member firms towards assisting in the resettlement of over 150 families
and individuals affected by the tsunami calamity in 2004. He is also
expected to address the business community.
Lord Hastings has initiated and mentored numerous corporate
citizenship efforts across the globe in the areas of disaster relief,
community development, equality, children's welfare and diversity.
His focus on sharing corporate success with the greater community has
inspired many business establishments into embarking on similar paths.
In addition to his role at KPMG International, Lord Hastings also serves
as a Non-Executive Director for British Telecom on BT's Board for
Responsible and Sustainable Business.
He is a trustee of the Vodafone Group Foundation and previously
served at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as its first Head
of Corporate Social Responsibility.
