Navy foils Sea Tiger penetration attempt

Navy in Vellemullivaikkal thwarted an attempt by Sea Tigers to penetrate the well-fortified Naval cordon yesterday.

Fourteen cadres were killed, a suicide boat, another attack craft were captured by the sailors, Navy sources said. The incident took place around 3 a.m. yesterday, where two bodies of Sea Tiger cadres (male and female) were also recovered by the combined Naval Forces of Fast Attack Craft (FAC), Special Boat Squadron (SBS), and Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) a cluster of LTTE sea tiger boats comprising two suicide craft laden with high explosives and two enemy attack craft were intercepted and attacked.

LTTE communications have revealed that 14 Sea Tiger carders have been killed. Search and clear operations are continuing.
