Horlicks, a brand of leading Consumer Healthcare Company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), announced the launch of 'HORLICKS SMART PASS', an initiative aimed at nurturing and preparing students who are to sit for the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination this year. It will also offer children who lack resources, free syllabus revision seminars across the island.

Annually, thousands of students islandwide prepare for the Grade 5 scholarship exam with the hope of gaining access to resourceful schools, which can offer better educational opportunities. Often for many children, the Grade 5 scholarship is a gateway for a better future and subsequently an improved life.

In the run up to the August 23rd Scholarship Examination, the 'HORLICKS SMART PASS' seminars will be held in 14 key locations in the country including Matara, Negombo, Gampaha, Batticaloa, Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Kegalle, Badulla, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Kalutara and Colombo. The series of seminars which began on July 11 will conclude on August 16.

Managing Director of GlaxoSmithKline, Sachi Thomas said, "We believe in offering all children an equal opportunity to ensure the long-term well-being of Sri Lanka's next generation. The Grade 5 Scholarship examination is a very crucial academic milestone a child needs to overcome and triumph over. The 'Horlicks Smart Pass' initiative endeavours to help children from all walks of life especially those who lack proper resources to face the scholarship examination with confidence."

The revision seminars are carefully designed and conducted by a team of renowned tutors attached to leading schools in Colombo. Each seminar will systematically and comprehensively review the Grade 5 syllabus with specimen questions relating to the examination being discussed as well.

Additionally, four detailed tutorial sheets will be offered in every 400g pack of Horlicks. The tutorials are in the form of questions and answers and are complied by a team of tutors conducting the seminars.

The company hopes to continue this effort in the years to come and ensure the well-being of children across the country. Horlicks is a nutritional drink made from wheat, milk and malted barley and is specially formulated to meet the needs of active and growing children.
