The Return of Rookantha

Rookantha and Chandralekha return to the stage after a long hiatus to enthral their fans old and new with a ‘return concert’ on August 14. The concert presented by S-Three will be staged at the Sugathadasa Stadium from 7.00 p.m. onwards.

Rookantha and Chandralekha will sing a set of 25 songs which will include two songs composed by Rookantha recently.

The songs will be choreographed and African and Latin American rhythms will feature in the music. Most importantly Rookantha will launch his daughter Raini to the Sri Lanka music industry.


Musical extravaganza at John de Silva Hall

Renowned Sri Lankan artistes will be centre stage today at the John de Silva Memorial Hall in a star studded concert.

The proceeds from which will be donated to our deserving soldiers and the IDPs, according to the organisers and sponsors Rohan and Dulani Fonseka.

The leading names who will participate in the concert which will commence at 4.00 p.m. are Pandith Amaradeva, Sunil Edirisinghe, Edward Jayakody, Jagath Wickramasinghe, Ranil Mallawarachchi, Lakshman Wijesekera, Surendra Perera, C.L. Fonseka, Mariazelle Goonetilleke, Lilanthi Karunanayake, Chandani Hettiarachchi, Amila Nadeeshani, Sri Kanthi Perera, Rodney Warnakulasuriya, Nelu Adikari, Kapila Pugalaarachchi, Samitha Mudunkotuwa, Rohan Fernando, child star Himasha Dassanayake and Sudesh Somal Ediriweera.

Choreography for the concert will be by Kamala Bellantota and the music by Dimitri Fonseka, Ranga Livera, Nuwan Gamaarachchi, Dennis Kalamulla among many others.

The spotlight will also fall on eighteen young French nationals who are of Sri Lankan parentage.

They will play and sing the music of some well-known Sinhala songs, and this is their first appearance in Sri Lanka.

The musical extravaganza is in aid of a housing project for our valiant soldiers.


Bankers’ Night

All Bankers will after a heavy day of counting currency and balancing ledgers, knock off their computers and head for an evening of relaxation on August 12 for the Bankers’ Night which will come alive at the Margarita Blue, Galadari Hotel from 6.00 p.m. onwards.

Going on what we hear the evening is going to be a great night for unwinding with interesting competitions and prizes and what’s more singles and doubles pool championships. It’s going to be a fun packed evening - an opportunity for bankers to throw caution to the winds and let their hair down!
