Record number sit A/L examination

A record number of 242,091 school and private candidates will sit for the forthcoming GCE (A/L) Examination in 1827 centres islandwide on August 11.

Accordingly 198,755 school candidates and 43,336 private candidates will sit for the examination. Examination Chief Anura Edirisinghe said that special examination centres have been set up at Killinochchi and Mullaitivu for the benefit of war affected students.

He said nearly 1,263 candidates in the Vavuniya welfare camps will also sit for the (A/L) examination this year.

The Examinations Chief also said that the National Identity Card (NIC) is necessary for students sitting for the A/L Examination, but those who do not have their NICs due to various reasons, could produce either their passport or three photographs, signed by the school principal or Grama Niladari or any Zonal Education Director.
