Self-employment for 78 estate youth in Badulla
The Minister of Youth Empowerment and Socio Economic Development and
the General Secretary of Ceylon Workers' Congress Arumugam Thondaman has
taken steps to boost the living conditions of the underprivileged estate
youth, so that they could live with equal rights and dignity among other
society and inspired them to initiate self-employment which would bring
a prosperous life in their future, informed sources said.
The Minister has provided an interest free loan as 75 thousand in
cheques each to 78 students under the Navashakthi project of
Saumyamoorthy Thondaman Memorial Foundation to Badulla estate youths who
participated in a 3-day seminar of vocational training at the function
held at Badulla Municipal Auditorium last week.
The Minister has come forward to render his service taking into
consideration the plight of the estate youth who were facing
predicaments due to lack of proper job opportunities for the past few
years and was the main objective of these interest free loan will
eradicate the unemployment of the estate youths who are fleeing from
their residences in search of jobs in the metropolitan and suburbs.
The large amount of workers who are living in the plantation sectors
are immensely benefited and now could equate with other communities as
these self-employment services implemented by the Minister who
persevered to bring the living rights and also they could initiate
employments such as Poultry farming, Cattle farming, cultivations, paddy
field and sewing jobs, sources said. |
