Construction industry to be developed

The Institute of Construction Training and Development (ICTAD) entered into a bilateral agreement with Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) in India to redevelop the construction industry in the North while developing other essential infrastructure facilities.

ICTAD Director General J.K. Lankatilake and CDIC Director General P.R. Suwaroop signed the agreement on behalf of two countries.

The devastated road grids, highways, buildings, houses and several important bodies due to terrorism will be redeveloped under the "Uthuru Wasanthaya" accelerated 180-day development project.

It is also intended to increase the national gross production in the North while finding a solution to the unemployment problem to a considerable level, the Ministry sources said.

Considerable attention will be paid by the Construction and Engineering services Ministry in the resettlement process of IDPs while developing the natural and physical resources in the North by the Ministry, the sources added.
