Kiwis bat whole day to score 437/5

The touring New Zealand cricketers had adequate batting practice when
they rattled up 437 for the loss of 7 wickets against a Sri Lanka
Cricket Development Squad XI on the second day of their three day match
at the Colts Cricket Club Grounds Havelock Park yesterday.
The SLC Development Squad XI were dismissed for 159 on the first day
and the Kiwis were 43 for 1 overnight. The run fiesta was headed by the
skipper Daniel Vittori who remained unbeaten on 96 facing 117 deliveries
with nine fours and two sixes. Daniel Flynn the unbeaten overnight
batsman (16) extended his score to 75 with ten fours facing 127 balls
while Ross Taylor (93) with 11 fours, Jesse Ryder (48) and Brendon
McCullum (78) with five fours and two sixes facing 97 balls made useful
contributions. Skipper Jeevan Mendis was the most successful bowler
taking 4 for 73 off 23 overs.
