Lankans in doubles final

BADMINTON: Sri Lanka put themselves in contention for a gold and a silver medal by reaching the final of the girls doubles event on the penultimate day of the Asian Youth Under-16 Badminton Individual Championships continued at S. Thomas' College Indoor Stadium in Mount Lavinia, yesterday.

The Sri Lankan pair of Achini Ratnasiri and Upuli Samanthika had the better of their Malaysian counterparts while the combination of Oshadi Kuruppu and Sushmitha Illangakoon defeated Thailand in their semi-final encounter. The all Sri Lankan final in the girls doubles tournament will be worked off today at the same venue along with the boys and girls singles and the mixed doubles finals.
