S. Thomas' , Ladies rule the waters

S. Thomas' College oarsmen raced through the waters in perfect style
displaying their prowess to win the inaugural S. Thomas' Sprint
Championships - T 500 Sprint Championship held at the Colombo Rowing
Club, Beira Waters yesterday.

Thomians, who outclassed their opponents, collected 11 points while
their traditional rivals Royal collected 6 points to be in second
position. Asian International School with a point was third.
Sajeev de Silva gave the Thomians their first win when he won the
single scull defeating Chirath Karunanayake of Royal with a time of 2.00
secs.
Thomians went to win the second event in the Boys double sculls - it
was a home and home affair. Ruven Weerasinghe (B) and Dhanushka
Jayanetti (S) of S. Thomas' 'A' beat Eshan Goonewardena (B) and Sajeev
de Silva (S) of S. Thomas' 'B' clocking 1.58 secs.
Thomians third win was in the main event Boys Coxed Fours. Eshan
Goonewardena (B), Sajeev de Silva (2), Dhanushka Jayanetti (3), Ruwen
Weerasinghe (S) and Amrik Variz (cox) beat Royal's - Sanjiva Jayasuriya
(B), Ajmal Sideek (2), Sahan Warnasuriya (3), Thivanka Jayatilake (S),
Pasan Ranaweera (cox) with a time of 1.48 secs.
The experienced sculler Sajeev de Silva, Dhanushka Jayanetti and
Ruven Weerasinghe had two wins each and their performances helped the
Thomians to become boys overall champions.
Ladies College Oarswomen won the girls overall title with 11 points
while Bishop's College took second slot with 7 points.
Anukshi Sumanapala of Bishops' College 'A' beat Dimithri
Thilakasundaram of Bishops 'A' in the girls singles sculls-time 2.34
secs. Sarani Jayawardena (B), Amaya Jayasuriya (S) of Ladies College 'A'
beat Amayi Mandawala (B), Yanith Hallock (S) of Ladies College 'B' time
2.17 secs. in girls double sculls.
In the girls coxed fours Ladies College 'A' beat Ladies College 'B'
with a time of 2.12 secs. The winning team was Tasshya Lenaduwa (B),
Anjali Mandawala (2), Amayi Mandawala (3), Yanithra Hallock (S), Khyati
Wickremanayake (cox). (2), Sarani Jayawardena (B), Shiyanaka de Zylva
(2), Sanchia Supramanium (3), Amaya Jayasuriya (S), Shileni Sumathiran (cox)
rowed for Ladies 'B'.
Revd. J.C. Puddefoot, Warden S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia was the
chief guest.
