Pakistan `A’ set to wrap it up

Medium paceman Mohammed Talha and left arm spinner Abdul Rehman bowled Pakistan ‘A’ to a threshold of a win over Sri Lanka ‘A’ in their second unofficial Test match with a day to spare at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama yesterday.

Pakistan ‘A’ needing 68 runs to win were 14 for no loss at the end of the third day’s play.

Talha took 5 for 79 and ably supported by his bowling partner Wahab Riaz (4 for 52) bowled the Lankans out for 180 after being 154 for 8 overnight in the first innings.

Lanka `A’ forced to follow on with a deficit of 162 runs fared no better in their second essay being dismissed for 229 leaving the visitors to get 68 runs to win.

For the Lankans only Muthumudalige Pushpakumara who struck a fighting 95 with nine fours and two sixes made off 105 deliveries and wicket-keeper Kaushal Silva (79 n.o) with ten fours facing 161 deliveries made notable contributions.
