Be a peace star !

Hello little stars of the nation,

We always like to meet people who are happy and peaceful. People who can share a good story. People who care for us, who are polite, pleasant and give us a sense of belonging. But, one important aspect we should remember is that, no matter what others are like, we must not lose our peace of mind and happiness. We must continue to be ourselves. We need to be determined to maintain our peace of mind without being dependent on any external influences.

Now, I'm sure you like this idea. So, it's my pleasure to introduce you to the "Star Family" whose members would help you in this regard. The Star Family comprises six members. They are the Peace Star, Happy Star, Love Star, Respect Star, Unity Star, and the Freedom Star.

These sparkling stars have begun their journey into a beautiful new world; a world where everyone is happy and united. A world full of natural smiles. Everything in this world is in order. The people, the animals, and nature are all in harmony. This new world is a place filled with nothing but happiness. Anyone can journey into this world.

Today, we will first introduce you to a member of this Star Family everyone would be glad to know. It's the Peace Star! The Peace Star marches forward, very peacefully of course inviting you to join him. Always calm and quiet, he is loved by everyone. He is relaxed and contented, no matter where he is.

Interested to know how he became the Peace Star! Then read on because he is happy to enlighten you so that you too can become one, just like him.

"Each morning as I wake up, I tell myself "I'm a peaceful star"

* Relax and be determined to be peaceful in mind and with your family and friends.

"I take a deep breath and make myself fresh with the natural fresh, air around me."

* Early morning air is very refreshing. If possible, go into the garden and appreciate the beauty of nature; the flowers, the birds and the trees around you will calm and sooth your mind.

"As I go to my mum for my glass of milk, I wish her a peaceful day."

* When you are happy and at peace you can make others feel the same way. Wishing your mum in this way will remind her that peace begins at home.

"Then I go to my dad, give him a big hug and a loving smile and make him feel peaceful too."

* Sometimes when people are absorbed in the daily hustle and bustle of life, they forget to even smile. A smile can restore that peaceful feeling they may have lost, due to so many reasons.

"Then at school, I help my teacher and make her happy by doing everything she wants me to do. It makes me happy too."

* In our lives we meet many characters who shape our future. If we allow them to cut and chip us, the diamond within us will sparkle, very brightly.

My friends love me, because I help them.

* Cooperation begets cooperation. If we give we will receive.

"I appreciate the presence of each friend at school and maintain good relations with them. If for instance, any one of my friends fails to return a text book which he borrowed from me, I kindly remind him about it, without scolding him or being nasty about it.

* No one in the world likes to do wrong things. Mistakes happen when we become careless. Learn to forgive and forget and settle any issues, peacefully.

"After returning home from school, I do my homework with the help of my sister. She and I work together in peace and harmony."

* It is not as if we are always right in what we think and do. We have many resources in front of us. If we are open to those, life would be much more fruitful.

"After dinner, before going to bed, I worship my parents and thank them for giving me such a peaceful day."

* Appreciate the gifts of life. They are treasures. You need not hunt for them.

"Before I close my eyes to go to sleep, I tell myself once again, I'm a peaceful star, a bright little star shining in the sky. I'm relaxed and silent. My body is clean, my legs, arms, shoulders and face are all relaxed. Everything around me is calm and peaceful. The moonlight is soothing. Good night, my dear! I wish myself, and then I go to sleep."

* Visualisation creates a goal. When we visualise a peaceful, serene, steady and relaxed form of ourselves, gradually it develops within us and becomes a reality.

Try to practise this in your life too. Then you will also be able to stay peaceful when facing any challenge and be another bright Peace Star!

Next we'll introduce you to another member of the star family.

Astonishing!

Here are some amazing facts to boost your brain power and also entertain your friends by enlightening them about these true facts...

* Who says that modern day people use more water than in the past? Would you believe that an ancient Roman citizen used about 1350 litres of water while a modern city dweller of today uses only about 230 litres a day?

* Everytime you take a breath of fresh air, you breathe in, or inhale, 300 molecules of air exhaled (breathed out) by some other person.

* Empress of Russia from 1741, Elizabeth Petrovna, was in the habit of changing her clothes at least twice each evening. She owned a wardrobe containing 15,000 dresses!

Menelik II

* A 19th century Emperor of Ethiopia, Menelik II had an unusual 'cure' for all his ailments. It is said that whenever he felt ill, he ate a few pages from the Bible!

* A former president of USA, John F. Kennedy had the ability to read at a rate of over 3000 words per minute.

President Kennedy

* Another astonishing fact was that by a strange coincidence, President Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln and another famous US President, Abraham Lincoln had a secretary called Kennedy.

* The brave French Emperor of the 19th century who is considered to be a military genius, Napolean Bonaparte, was terrified of cats.

Winston Churchill

* The Prime Minister of Britain during the worst-ever human conflict, the World War II, Sir Winston Churchill, is said to have had an exceptionally good memory. Would you believe that he could recite an entire Shakespeare play, word for word?

* The famous composer Beethovan had to pour ice water over his head to stimulate his brain while composing. A cool way to keep a 'cool head' when doing something serious.

Alfonso

* The king of Spain from 1886-1941, Alfonso was tone-deaf (unable to hear the difference between musical notes) and he had to employ a man just to tell him when the national anthem was being played so that he could stand up.
